The scope of this project was an evaluation and implementation to remedy a sub-standard floor installation at Ralston Valley High School. LOA Architecture evaluated the existing floor conditions in the kitchen, cafeteria and lobby and then published a Slab Moisture Report. Several options were presented in this document, and JEFFCO Public Schools elected to remove the existing concrete slab on grade, and the existing granular material and blotter layer.

After the floor assembly was removed, a crushed base (to provide a level and stable surface) was installed. A vapor barrier was then placed on top of this base with the concrete slab placed directly on top of the moisture barrier. New porcelain tile was placed in the lobby, new VCT (vinyl composition tile) in the cafeteria, and new quarry tile in the kitchen.
