Phase I of the one-story construction allowed for 13,768 gross square feet which includes office space for the Health Physics and Hazardous Materials Departments. Clerestory windows above the brick veneer framed by exposed steel columns are designed around this portion of the building perimeter to bring light into the interior throughout.
The functional design of the office area was to act as an “ante room” for security to the laboratory zones. All visitors and staff personnel are required to check in at the office and then proceed through the restrooms (which act as a buffer) on the way into the laboratories.
